Acosta, Sr., 79, a resident of Stephensville, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 at his home. Jerry was born on May 11, 1932 in Morgan City the son of William and Aline Landry Acosta. On November 12, 1960 he married Lee Ann "Dee Dee" Scully in Amelia and she survives. Jerry was a shrimper for 61 years and was the owner of the Lucky Strike and The White Gold vessels. He was a simple man and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, LeeAnn "Dee Dee" Acosta; nine children, Jennifer Acosta Blanchard and husband Mark, Sr., Jerry J. Acosta, Jr. and wife Dee, Anthony J. Acosta and companion Denise, Danny P. Acosta and wife Marcie, William "Billy" Acosta and wife Angie; Gail Freeman and husband Keith, Judith Suttoon and husband Ranney, Sr., Suzette Gilmore and husband Leo, Jerry Jean Wiggins, and husband the late Tommy Wiggins, Sr.; grandchildren, Christina and Mark Blanchard II, Sky Acosta, step grandchildren, Jewal Breard, David Dingler, fourteen more grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Alene Acosta Bertrand and husband Jerome, Gertrude Acosta Prestenbach and husband Pete, Diane Acosta Solieau and husband Harris; two brothers, Lenard Acosta and wife Ella Mae, Wilson Acosta and companion Fedora. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Aline Landry Acosta; sister, Doris Acosta Brenson; brother, Jernius Acosta and wife Ella. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Danny Poche officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at Holy Cross on Wednesday. Jerry will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. ===================
