Fran was born on July 23, 1943 in Galveston, Texas the daughter of Elmer E. and Lucille Toerner Rathbun. Fran took exceptional pride in the fact that she was able to share both her faith and her knowledge as she taught 2nd and 4th graders at Sacred Heart and Holy Cross Elementary. She was a very loving and caring person who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sharing information and photos of her grandchildren to others via email and the internet was her favorite way to bring a smile to others. She had a very soft spot in her heart for the elderly and also for children whom she felt had a tough life. She had a special place in her heart for these “adopted” friends. She also had a special place in her heart for all animals, many of which she brought home. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Milford "Butch" Blum of Baton Rouge; three children, Charlene Blum Eymard, and husband Dwayne of LaPlace, Lisa Blum Smith and husband Terry of Baton Rouge, Jeffery Blum, and wife Caridad, of Morgan City; six grandchildren, Matthew Eymard, Eric Eymard, Emily Eymard, all of LaPlace, Adam Blum, of Morgan City, Megan Smith of Baton Rouge, Jacob Blum of Morgan City; one sister, Betty Jehs of Bloomington, Indiana; one brother, Robert "Jack" Rathbun of Jacksonville, Florida; and a very large and extensively special extended family. Fran was preceded in death by her parents Elmer E. Rathbun and Lucille Toerner Rathbun. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday at Holy Cross. Fran will be laid to rest in Morgan City Mausoleum. ===================
