"Phil" Broussard, Jr., 63, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 12:10 PM at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia. Burial will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery. Father Bill Melancon will officiate the services. Phil was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved spending time outdoors. He was employed for the past 12 years by Cal-Dive International, but has worked in the oil industry for the past 38 years. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Diane Landry Broussard of Franklin; two daughters, Lori B. Langley and her husband Chad of Lafayette, and Phyllis B. Watson and her husband Richard of Broussard; his mother, Joyce Goulas Broussard of Franklin; one sister, Margaret B. Fain of Franklin; and five grandchildren, Christopher Langley, Mallory Watson, Ryan Langley, Blaise Watson, and Megan Langley. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy P. Broussard, Sr. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Ibert's Mortuary on Monday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. The mortuary will reopen Tuesday at 10:00 AM until dismissal time at 12:30 PM. Pallbearers will be Kirk Battaglio, Chet Battaglio, Scott Battaglio, Dorfus Fain, James Carter, and Ramsey Albert. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilrod Clausen, Mike Bigler, and Al Landry. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heart of Hospice, Iberia Medical Center, Sidney Jo LeBlanc, NP, and Dr. David Rinaldi for the loving and compassionate care given to Phil during his final days.
