Rev. Jon Tellifero of First Methodist Church, West Monroe, will officiate. Perry was born July 12, 1934, in Mansfield and died Friday, April 6, 2012, in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Childress; and his brothers, Hollie and James. He is survived by his sisters, Sara Vercher and Barbara Westbrook; a niece, Sharon Van Tyne; and his nephews, Robert, Ronald and Robin Vercher. In early childhood, Perry suffered an illness that left him severely disabled. When his parents were no longer able to care for him, he became a resident of Pinecrest Developmental Center in Pineville. For more than half his life, Perry was cared for by the doctors, nurses, professional staff and cottage workers at Pinecrest. Doctors and hospitals in Alexandria provided additional care when needed. Members of local churches regularly visited him. His family has always been grateful for the loving kindness shown to Perry throughout his years at Pinecrest — it was immeasurable and unforgettable. Kramer Funeral Home of Alexandria was in charge of arrangements. ===================
