Jerry was a beloved, kind, and fun-loving family-centered man. He enjoyed spending his time making others laugh and bringing a little bit of joy to everyone he met. Jerry worked as a tugboat deckhand and bouncer until he could no longer work and spent the rest of his life dedicated to helping family and friends. Jerry enjoyed getting out and seeing the natural wonders of the world around him and took advantage of every opportunity to do so. He will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Dalton Joseph Ackman Sr.; his mother, Gladys White Ackman Aucoin; sisters, Ozelia Ackman, Caro Beason and Janie Marie Ackman; brothers, Thomas J. Ackman Sr., David D. Ackman, Wallace Ackman Sr. and Joseph F. Ackman; his niece, Lisa Marie Ackman Batte; and his nephews, Herbert Ackman, Troy Allen Ackman and Curtis Batte Jr. Jerry is survived by his sisters, Rita Ackman, Laura Ackman Barbier and Barbara Ackman, all of Belle River, LeeDonna Ackman Atchley and Pam Ackman Dupuy Dehart, both of Bayou Vista, and Dianne Ackman Sauce of Ricohoc; his brothers, Rufus Ackman of Ricohoc, Daniel Ackman of Pierre Part, Ulysse Ackman of Amelia, Dalton Ackman Jr. of Bay St. Louis, Miss., and Ben Ackman and his wife Bridgett Ackman; his son, Brandon Ackman; his daughters, Britney Ackman Galvan and Meghan Baham; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests visitation to be observed at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City today, Thursday, May 31, 2012, beginning at 5 p.m. for family and 6-10 p.m. for friends and family. Visitation will resume Friday, June 1, 2012, from 8 a.m. until time of services. Memorial services will be on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. and burial will follow at Belle River Baptist Church cemetery. ===================
