David L. Barrilleaux 63, a resident of Gibson, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at his home. David was born Aug. 1, 1948, in Morgan City, the son of Jefferson Paul Barrilleaux and Lucille P. LaCoste. David had an eclectic and colorful work history during his life, including sandblaster and painter foreman, Unlimited AB seaman, and was also a fisherman and trapper. He was a goodhearted, giving man who never knew a stranger and held fast to his convictions. He adored each and every one of his grandchildren and held them close to his heart. He was an awesome cook and loved to share his cooking secrets with his children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, the former Betty McMurry of Gibson; four sons, David P. Barrilleaux and wife Paulene of Gibson, Johnny Barrilleaux and wife Shannon of Morgan City, Christopher Barrilleaux and fiancé Jenita Cadierre of Bayou Blue, and Chad Barrilleaux and wife Terra of Morgan City; four sisters, Shirley Vining, Elizabeth Gussman, Anna Ribardi and Dale Crappell; one brother, Larry Barrilleaux; 10 grandchildren, Kaylie McCauley, Lauren and Kasie Lefleur, and Dylan, Logan, Gavin, Quentin, Brittany, Brianne and Madison Barrilleaux; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Lucille LaCoste Barrilleaux; three brothers, Richard, Michael and Harold Barrilleaux; one sister, Gertrude Verrett; and one nephew, Brett Verrett. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Gibson Baptist Church with Rev. John G. Williams officiating. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Gibson Baptist Church and resumes Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of services at the church. David will be laid to rest in the Gibson Baptist Church Cemetery. ===================
