Born in Welsh and raised throughout South Louisiana, she graduated from New Iberia High School and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, majoring in piano. In 1967, Marlene, now married with children, settled in Morgan City, where she began a long career as a piano teacher and choir director at Morgan City High School. She was the choir director at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church and founded a civic choir, the Tuneweavers. After her retirement, she moved to Houma to be closer to her grandchildren, Erin and Kelly Todd. She is also survived by her daughters, Susan Hendrix Brumfield of Lubbock, Texas, Cathy Hendrix of Nashville, Tenn., and Sarah Hendrix Todd and her husband Mark Todd of Houma; one brother, Eric Milsted of New Iberia; and a niece, Erica Robichaux. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Nellie Milsted; her brother, James Milsted; and her husband, Jerry Hendrix. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City, 5-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church in Morgan City on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. She will be remembered as a loving, caring and talented teacher, a mentor and a trusted friend. ===================
