Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2012/sm1205.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be held Monday, May 7, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Franklin for Mr. Charles Edward Shoemaker, Jr., 89, a Port Barre native and longtime resident of Franklin, who passed away Friday, May 4, 2012, at his home with his family at his side. Mr. Charles was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II as an Aviation Machinist's Mate First Mate and Tail Gunner, and was a 32nd Degree Past Master Mason of the Franklin Masonic Lodge 57. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Lynn Allen and her husband Richard of Panama City Beach, FL; one son, Dwight Blair Shoemaker of Franklin; two sisters, Hertha Barrilleaux of Franklin and Betty Cook of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren, Cherié Pierce Raidl and her husband Christopher Michael Raidl, and Jennifer Kaye Pierce, both of Thibodaux; three great grandchildren, Darien Alissa Boudreaux of Napoleonville, and Alexis Denise Pierce and Berlin Grace Raidl, both of Thibodaux; his best friend, Sparky; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Edward "Chuckie" Shoemaker, III; and by his parents, Charles Edward Shoemaker, Sr. and Grace Futral Shoemaker. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Franklin Lodge 57, F. & A. M. Honorary pallbearers will be General William Bigler, Mac Hebert, and B. J. Hensley. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Mr. Charles' memory to the Franklin Masonic Lodge 57, F. & A. M., PO Box 344, Franklin, Louisiana 70538. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Roland Degeyter and staff, Sherry Carter, and his lifelong friends, B. J. Hensley and family, and Mac Hebert.
