Whitney J. “Sonny” Billiot Jr., 75, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Teche Regional Medical Center. Sonny was born on July 17, 1936, in Morgan City, the son of Whitney J. Billiot Sr. and Nola Aucoin. Sonny enjoyed being outdoors and had a love for fishing. Early in his life he enjoyed trapping, shrimping and hunting. Sonny never met a stranger, as he loved being around people, and would help anyone who needed it. He loved his family and loved spending time with them, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Janette M. Billiot; three children, Whitney J. Billiot III and wife Vickie of Morgan City, Sandra M. McCall and husband Thomas of Magnolia, Texas, and David Billiot and wife Kelly of New Iberia; three grandchildren, Whitney J. Billiot IV, Katie N. Hatch and Gillian G. Billiot; two great-grandchildren, Izabella M. Hatch and Abbagail L. Hatch; four sisters, Jeanette Crochet and husband Ray, Joyce Romero, Doris Landry and husband Robert, and Brenda Alleman and husband L.J.; and one brother, Clayton Billiot and wife Susie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Whitney J. Billiot Sr. and Nola Aucoin; and one sister, Betty Jean Billiot. Mass of Christian burial was held at noon today, Monday, June 18, 2012, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Danny Poché officiating. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until mass time today at the church. Mr. Sonny was laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum. ===================
