All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ======================================================================= NOTE: If a Photo is available for an obituary record, a reference note will be included with the record. ======================================================================= JACKSON, ALTON HAYWARD April 3, 1935 — June 17, 2012 Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson for Alton Hayward Jackson, 77, a native of Hartsfield, Ga., and a resident of Bayou Vista for the past 33 years, who went home to his Lord Sunday, June 17, 2012, at 11:25 a.m. at his home with his family at his side. Burial will follow in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Randy Plessala will officiate the services. Military honors will be conducted by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed Sunday gatherings at his home with all of his family and friends. He worked for Tidewater Marine for 20 years, and was the owner of Atchafalaya Seafood Restaurant and My Place. He never turned anyone in need away and loved his nieces and nephews as much as his children. He will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Graves Jackson of Bayou Vista; four children, Dean Hugo Jackson and his wife Stacy of Bayou Vista, Robert Eugene Jackson and his companion Bethany Williams of Stephensville, Zonia Lee Jackson and her fiancé Gene Turner of Patterson, and Nicki Jo Ann Sauce and her husband Rafe of Bayou Vista; one sister, Joyce Jackson of Thomasville, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Nick Joseph, Christopher Keith, Mariah Whitney, Sarah Lynn, Cameron Hugo, Robert Hayward (Bo), Michael Keith, Stefanie Diane, Cory Alden and Blaze Jo-Nicole; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Hugo Jackson and Bertha Lee Tucker Jackson; as well as five brothers and five sisters. A gathering of family and friends will be held today, Monday, June 18, 2012, at Ibert’s Mortuary, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and again Tuesday, June 19 from 8 a.m. until time of service at 9:30 a.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Jackson, Robert Jackson, Nick Joseph Jackson, Christopher Keith Jackson, Robert Hayward (Bo) Jackson, and Michael Keith Jackson.
