Viewing will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with funeral services being held at 11 a.m. at New Zorah Baptist Church of Morgan City on Saturday, June 9, 2012. Burial will be held at The Cemetery in Berwick. Repast immediately following services will be at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church of Morgan City. Gayle Johnson was born in Morgan City to the late Betty Lee Phillips (Willie Lewis) and Alvin Johnson (Margie) on Oct. 14, 1955. She accepted Christ at an early age and grew in faith while a member of New Zorah Baptist Church of Morgan City. She was a ray of sunshine to all and loved being helpful to all who needed it. She will be truly missed. She leaves to cherish her memories her caring husband, Clifton Jones of St. Martinville; her daughter, Keysi Melancon of Lafayette; three sons, Primos “PJ” Johnson, Kenneth Johnson and Jamal Gray, all of Lafayette; five brothers, Kevin E. Johnson (Angela), Kenneth M. Johnson (Monkia), Keith J. Johnson (Chorriss), Kimberlyn Johnson (Taren) and Donald Phillips (Dolores); five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Lee Phillips; her grandmothers, Gertrude Singleton and Margaret Phillips; her grandfather, Richard Singleton; and aunts, Doris Ann Chenevert and Lena Mae Garrison. ===================
