Ames passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, at 12:40 p.m. at his home with his family at his side. He was a Franklin native and longtime resident of Jeanerette. Burial will follow in Perpetual Park Cemetery. Mr. Landry is survived by his wife, Diane Marie Cowart Landry of Jeanerette; two stepsons, Ray J. “Buddy” Charpentier of Morgan City and Travis P. Charpentier of Jeanerette; four siblings, Harriet L. Cervantes of Franklin, Maxine L. Ashley of Franklin, Roselyn Landry of Franklin, and Terry P. Landry of Gibson; one uncle, Ira Peltier; nine step-grandchildren; four step-great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful friend and companion, his dog Rusty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Joseph Landry and Valla Peltier Landry; and one stepdaughter, Angela Charpentier Boykin. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be his brother, Terry P. Landry; stepsons, Ray “Buddy” Charpentier and Travis Charpentier; step-grandchildren, Logan Charpentier and Lundi Charpentier; and nephew, Rodney Bobbitt. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Angel Care Hospice of New Iberia, and two very special friends, Crystal Benoit and family of Jeanerette, and Robin Loustalot and family of Franklin, for all of the care and support given to Ames.
