SONS, IRENE MARIE 
May 19, 1928 — June 25, 2012

Irene Marie Sons, 84, a lifelong resident of Berwick, passed away Monday, June 
25, 2012, at Teche Regional Medical Center.

Irene spent many years shrimping and working hard. She loved shopping, eating 
out, growing flowers, spending time with her brothers and sisters, and watching 
Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke and other westerns. She especially enjoyed spending 
time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene was wonderful at 
making homemade breads and a fabulous crab stew! To her grandchildren she was 
comforting and the perfect role model showing unconditional love from her tone 
of voice even down to her cooking.

Irene was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her two sons, Brad Sons and wife Joyce of Duson, and Roger 
Sons of Berwick; three brothers, Emile Lodrigue Jr. of Bayou Vista, Billy 
Lodrigue of Berwick and Claude Lodrigue Sr. of Bayou L’Ourse; five sisters, 
Lorena Lombas of Berwick, Lillie Teachman of Berwick, Lillian “Molly” Rink of 
Gibson, Diane Sanders of Bayou Vista and Betty Lou Leger of Gibson; four 
grandchildren, Laurie Prejean and husband Chad, Rogena Hartley and husband 
Rick, Kimberly Norwood and husband Justin, and Karen Thibodeaux and husband 
Starsky; and seven great-grandchildren, Hanna Thi Irene Hartley, Colin Jon 
Prejean, Keller Clay Thibodeaux, Katie Ann Prejean, Khairick Noel Lai Hartley, 
Molly Marie Thibodeaux and Karson Irene Norwood.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd N. Sons; parents, Emile 
Lodrigue and Lorenza Ribardi Lodrigue; two brothers, Ernest and Phil Lodrigue; 
and two sisters, Dalita Sons and Adeline Dontay.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Twin City 
Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday 
at the funeral home. 
Irene will be laid to rest in the Berwick Cemetery.
