Edward owned his own tugboat business, Guidry’s Boat Rentals. After retiring he loved being on the water, crawfishing, running catfish lines, shrimping, and hunting. Edward was a great cook and an excellent carpenter; he actually built his first home out of cypress. His pride and joy was the day when he and his sons-in-law built a 56-foot all-aluminum shrimp boat, “The Lucky Boy,” right in his own yard in Stephensville and launched it right there in the back yard. That was a joyful day for him and all his family. The launch was a sight to see and will always be a great memory for his family. Edward was a wonderful dad and a very giving man. He helped everyone he could, even when he was sick or not feeling well, he gave all he had to everyone. Edward will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Edward is survived by his daughters, Mary and her husband Gene Gaudet of Morgan City, Maxine and her husband Pat Brown of Bayou L’Ourse, and Lynette and her husband Randy Aulds of Stephensville; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Rhodes of Morgan City; nine grandchildren, Jason Thompson, Angela Vining, Kim Bernard, Travis Romero, Melissa Mareno, Heather Orgeron, Laine Mayon, Brittany Aulds and Greg Guidry; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; three brothers, Lynwood Guidry and his wife Doris, Willbur Guidry and his wife Betty, and Calvin Guidry and his wife Louella; one sister, Dot Costin and her husband Luie; and one sister-in-law, Alfreda Guidry.
