Feb. 23, 1961 ~ Aug. 23, 2012 Memorial services will be held Monday, August 27, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary for Garland Dean Hill Sr. 51, a native of Hamlin, Texas and a resident of Verdunville for the past 31 years, who passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012, at 1:15 a.m., at his home following a brief battle with cancer. Garland’s brother-in-law, Brian Keith Walker Sr. will officiate the service. Garland’s passion in life was his family and his horses. He was a welder from the age of 14, working mostly in the oil industry. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Virginia “Tiny” Champagne Hill; their three children, Lacie Virginia Hill Corman and her husband, Sam of Nacogdoches, Texas; Garland Dean Hill Jr. of New Orleans; and Lester Trent Hill of Verdunville; his mother, Linda Thomas Boudreaux of Centerville; his stepfather, Pete Boudreaux and his wife, Ree-Ree, of Verdunville; one sister, Sabria Hill McGuire and her husband, Darrin, of Franklin; one brother, Cordell Boudreaux of Verdunville; one stepbrother, Jason Rip Boudreaux, of Verdunville; one stepsister, Suzanne Lofgren of Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Jerry Champagne of Nacogdoches, Texas; and four grandchildren, Katie-Rae Corman, Malerie Corman, Zachery Corman, and Rye Michael Hill. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Garland Hill; father-in-law, Elby Champagne; two nephews, Brian Keith Walker Jr. and David L. Champagne; as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
