All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ======================================================================= NOTE: If a Photo is available for an obituary record, a reference note will be included with the record. ======================================================================= SAVAGE, CAROLYN BURGESS April 24, 1946 ~ August 16, 2012 Funeral services were held Monday, August 20, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Little Pass Baptist Church in Charenton for Carolyn Burgess Savage, 66, a native and resident of Charenton, who passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012, at her home in Charenton. Entombment followed in the Chitimacha Mausoleum. Her brother, Pastor Michael Burgess, along with the Rev. Dr. Chris Holloway and the Rev. Bobby Hodnett officiated over the services. Carolyn attended Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, Kansas. Following college she worked in Washington, D.C. for the Department of State. Later in life she taught Chitimacha Culture and Language for the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana until retiring due to declining health. Carolyn’s unwavering faith in the Lord was her source of strength, love and devotion to her family and friends. Survivors include her three daughters, Kica Savage of Charenton, Cchea Nugent of Corinth, Texas, and Neka Mire and her husband, Eric of Charenton; five brothers, Michael Burgess of Flora, Mississippi; Kenneth Burgess of Lafayette; Gerald Burgess of Wasilla, Arkansas; Ernest Burgess of Florida; and Craig Burgess of Charenton; four sisters, Linda Burgess Ball of Gansevoort, New York; Annis Lee Burgess of Charenton; Diane Burgess Turner of Kenai, Alaska; and Melissa Burgess Andujo of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Julian Mire, Saylor Nugent, Razel Mire, Draven Mire and Sonny James; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Henry Burgess and Ruth Marcotte Burgess. A gathering of family and friends was held Monday at Little Pass Baptist Church in Charenton from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Burgess, Ken Burgess, Gerald Burgess, Craig Burgess, Chairman John Paul Darden and Eric Mire. Honorary pallbearers will be Julian Mire and Saylor Nugent. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin. ===================
