April 17, 1927 ~ Aug. 27, 2012 A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, August 31, 2012, at 12 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton for Mr. Chester Joseph Soprano, 85, a native and lifelong resident of Charenton, who passed away Monday, August 27, 2012, at 6:55 p.m., at his home, with his family at his side. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Father Gregory Cormier will officiate the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Peter Soprano, Kim Soprano, Chris Soprano, Todd Soprano, Coby Soprano and Joshua Landry. Mr. Chester was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Germany during the latter part of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Beryl Boutte’ Soprano; seven children, Gwen S. Boudreaux of Charenton; Stephanie S. Landry of Jacksonville, Florida; Frank Peter Soprano of Centerville; Kim Soprano and his wife, Amber, of Franklin, Chris Soprano of Franklin, Todd Soprano and his companion, Sally Roche of Franklin; and Gretchen S. Boudreaux and her husband, Chad, of Franklin; daughter-in-law, Becky Caro Soprano of Centerville; one brother, Charley Soprano of Charenton; one sister, Anna Mae Foti of St. Martinville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Soprano Sr. and Venera Anna Farinella Soprano; six brothers, Camille, Joseph, Peter Jr., Samuel, Anthony and Francis; one sister, Sarah Soprano Verrette; a granddaughter, Shanna Landry; and a son-in-law, Dennis G. Boudreaux. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at the church, from 10 a.m. until Mass time at 12 p.m. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Hospice Compassus of Lafayette, especially Terry Ledet and Karen Smothers, for the compassionate care given to Mr. Chester in his final days. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc., in Franklin. ===================
