On Friday morning, August 17, 2012, Mr. Paul S. Thibeaux of Jeanerette, passed away quietly at home after a brief illness. He was 91 years old. Mr. Thibeaux was a retired commission agent for Distributor’s Oil Company, and he ran the Distributor’s Oil bulk plant at the east end of Jeanerette for over 50 years. He was a veteran of WWII, and graduated from SLI after returning from the service. A man of deep Catholic faith, he will be remembered for his ready wit and his ever present smile. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mae Thibeaux; by his three children, Marcelle T. Montgomery and her husband, Timothy Montgomery, of New Orleans; his son Robert and his wife, Kelly, also of New Orleans; and his daughter, Marguerite T. Calais and her husband, Randy Calais, of Cecilia; and by his three beloved grandchildren, Paul Montgomery, Jessica Montgomery, Marguerite Thibeaux, and Marguerite’s stepson, Jeremy, and grandson, Jeremiah Calais. Mr. Thibeaux is also survived by his sister, Sister Mary Celeste Thibeaux, R.S.M; his sisters-in-law, Anna Thibeaux, Mary Thibeaux, Marguerite Anderson and Eloise Dopson; his brothers-in-law, William Anderson and Louis Olivier; and over 80 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Simeon and Elmina Thibeaux of Jeanerette; and by his brothers and sisters, Sister Mary Madeleine Thibeaux, Simeon Thibeaux, Louis Thibeaux, Rose T. Fortier and her husband, Karl, his closest friend; Celeste Thibeaux, Camille Thibeaux, Bernard Thibeaux, Jerome Thibeaux and Marcelle T. Olivier. The family would like to thank his beloved nieces Camille Lapeyrouse, Susan Landry and Jennifer LeBlanc for their lifetime of love and devotion. A wake was held at David Funeral Home on Provost Street in Jeanerette from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2012 with a rosary being prayed at 5 p.m. Visitation resumed at 10 a.m. on Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial conducted by Fr. Mark Denise at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette at 1 p.m. Burial followed at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Jeanerette. David Funeral Home, 400 Provost St. Jeanerette, La.
