After a long illness, Elliot Jones Jr. fell asleep peacefully on September 29, 2012 in his home in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Elliot was born on January 18, 1933 in Franklin, Louisiana and became a resident of Stone Mountain, Georgia in 1995. He retired from the St. Mary Parish School system after 40 years of service and he was a veteran of the United States Army. A service in loving memory of Elliot Jones Jr. will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, Georgia. Interment will follow in Melwood Cemetery, 5170 E Ponce De Leon Ave, Stone Mountain, Georgia. Elliot was preceded in death by his father, Elliot Jones Sr.; his mother, Estella Jones; and two sisters, Dorothy Carroll and Carrie Simon. Left to cherish beautiful memories of Elliot is his beloved wife, Barbara Lee; daughters, Charlotte Jones, Cathy Jones and Cynthia (James) Hall; sons, Elliot (Lynn) Jones III and Wardell Jones; brothers, Chester Jones, Bernie Jones and Willie (Gloria) Jones; sisters, Stella Mae Jones and Sheril (Charles) Renthrope; brothers-in-law, Willie Carroll, Clark Lee, Riley (Eunice) Lee and Kenneth (Becky) Lee; sisters-in-law, Jennie Williams, Elizabeth Henry (Wilfred), Naomi Welch, LaManda Phillips, Julia Mae (Henry) Lee and Acqueline (James) Jones; 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honoring Elliot as pallbearers are Wilfred Henry, James Hall III, Gerald Ireland, Jonathan Ireland, Janus Jones, Alan Patterson, Joshua Veal and Hoyette Williams. ===================
