Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever”. (Psalm 23:5-6) Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012, 11a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 101 Main St, Baldwin, for Mr. Arthur Joseph Lofton, 72. Arthur, also known as “Pounto” left this earthly place to reside with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 3:50 p.m. at his home in New Iberia where he resided with his daughter, Myra, grandchildren, Dondra, Jasmine and Trey. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Lofton; one sister, Rose Lofton and one great-granddaughter, Kaidence McQueen. His fondest memories will be cherished by his devoted children; Myran Lofton, Tracy Hypolite (Peter) of New Iberia, Terralen Lofton of Beaumont, Texas, Vontrell Wilson (Kendrick), LaToya Lofton, Nunique Washington (Terry) of Baldwin, Paul Lofton, Allen Lofton, Deshawn Lofton, Lawrence Lofton and Eric Phillips of Baldwin, Mark Lofton (Jennifer) of Beaumont, Texas, and Shannon Carson (Yvonne) of Franklin. Arthur also leaves to cherish his memories, three sisters, Rosalyn Hopkins, Helen Lofton, Betty Sauls; one brother, Anthony Lofton, all of Austin Texas; and a special God-sister, Selena Lewis of New Orleans; 32 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, October 19, 2012 from 7-9 p.m at Trinity UMC and resume Saturday, October 20, from 8 a.m. until the time of service at Trinity UMC.
