All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ======================================================================= NOTE: If a Photo is available for an obituary record, a reference note will be included with the record. ======================================================================= BECNEL, LUCILLE LYONS Dec. 6, 1917 ~ Nov. 30, 2012 A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at 11 a.m., at the Church of Assumption in Franklin for Lucille Lyons Becnel, 94, a native of Jeanerette and a resident of Franklin for 72 years, who passed away Friday, November 30, 2012, at 11:44 a.m., at her daughter’s home in Thibodaux. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services. Lucille was a loving wife and mother who truly enjoyed life and loved God and her family. Her biggest joy was when her eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren came home for visits. She also looked forward to her visits with her family in Thibodaux and Lake Charles. She loved to cook, play cards, bingo, and pokeno. In her later years she also enjoyed “hitting the slots” at any casino her family would take her to. Lucille was a longtime member of the Church of the Assumption in Franklin, as well as the Ladies Altar Society of which she was a member for 29 years. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Becnel DeGravelle and her husband, Cam, of Thibodaux and Sheila Becnel Fox Granger and her husband, Ronnie, of Sulphur; eight grandchildren, Debbie D. Pickell, Brian DeGravelle, Eric DeGravelle, Craig DeGravelle, Cindy D. Dwyer, Teri Fox Talbot, Shannon B. Trahan and Nicole B. Deslatte; 17 great grandchildren, Josh and Claudia Pickell, Grant, Olivia, Sarah, Caroline, Laura and Camille DeGravelle, Sean, Colin and Morgan Dwyer, Benjamin Talbot, Meredith, Rive and Beck Trahan, and Madeline and Paige Deslatte; special niece and nephew, Linda Lee and Tommy LeBlanc; as well as other numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Becnel, of which she was blessed to share 62 wonderful years with until his passing in 1999; one daughter, Deborah E. Becnel; one son, Michael P. Becnel; her parents, Felix Joseph Lyons and Valerie Deslatte Lyons; five brothers, Lee, Luke, F.J. Jr., L.P. and Felix Lyons; and four sisters, Eunice Olivier, Mae Lyons, Inez Lyons and Rena LeBlanc. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, Dec. 3, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Visiting will continue Tuesday morning at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian DeGravelle, Craig DeGravelle, Eric DeGravelle, Ben Talbot, Josh Pickell and Grant DeGravelle. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospice for the loving care given to Lucille.
