Msgr. Richard Greene will be the celebrant. Entombment will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday at Sacred heart of Jesus Catholic Church until service time. A native of Cienfuegos, Cuba and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Fernandez was a former resident of Franklin. She passed away at 12:51 p.m., on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Belle Teche Nursing Home. Mrs. Fernandez was a devout Catholic who was a devoted wife and mother. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them and caring for them. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy for her children and grandchildren and will be missed dearly. Mrs. Fernandez is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jose Fernandez of New Iberia; two daughters, Carmen F. Rodriguez and husband, Lance, of Baton Rouge and Barbara F. Rosamond and husband, Tim, of New Iberia; and five grandchildren, Valerie Rodriguez, Katelyn Rodriguez, Lance Michael Rodriguez, Morgan Rosamond and Emily Rosamond. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and America Montes Gonzalez; and one sister, Rosario Gonzalez. Pallbearers will be family members and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Belle Teche Nursing Home, Heart of Hospice and her caregivers, Connie Smith and Pam Romero for all their wonderful care, concern and compassion.
