"MEME" November 27, 1927 – December 23, 2012 Bernice S. "Meme" Simon, 85, a native of Lafayette Parish and a resident of Morgan City passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Teche Regional Medical Center. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she adored spending time with her family, which included her extended family of brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and all of her in-laws. Everyone was special and loved by Bernice. Bernice was also known for spending time outdoors working on her flower garden. Bernice is survived by her two daughters, Gwen Morell and her husband, Jay, and Cynthia Broussard and her husband, Jerry, all of Morgan City; his grandchildren, Shelly Sykes and her husband, Gary, Mark Morell and his wife, Maurita, Ashlee Broussard and her significant other, Jeremy, and Brad Broussard and his wife, Beth; his great grandchildren, Brett, Jillian, Riley, Kameron, Grant, and two expected; one sister, Veda Davis; and one brother, Andrus Simon. She was proceeded in death by her loving of husband of 64 years, John I. "Honey" Simon; her father, Andre Simon; her mother, Adonia Leger Simon; and two brothers and three sisters, Beulah Simon, Sidney Simon, Whitney Simon, Agnes S. Simon, and Evelyn Trahan. A time of remembrance and reflections will be observed Friday, December 28, 2012 from 9:00am until 12:30pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, December 28th at 1:00pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Bernice will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. The family would like to express their deep gratitude and thanks to Teche Regional Medical Center 6th Floor Staff and 7th Floor Rehab Staff, along with Southern Care Hospice for their warmth, kindness, and loving care of Bernice during her final days. Lastly, a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Francis (Chuck) Metz and his PA's (Heather and Hannah) and Dr. Christopher Stewart for never giving up on her. ===================
