Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1301.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at 11:00 AM at St. Jules Catholic Church for Jimmie Garrett "Poo-Poo" Burleigh, Sr., 67, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at his home. Burial will follow in the St. Jules Cemetery. Fr. Thomas Vu will officiate the services. Jimmie was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam War. In his early years he worked for the Franklin Police Dept. and was a dedicated police officer for many years. More recently, he worked for Columbia Chevrolet and Toyota, as well as Domino's Pizza. He enjoyed working Bingo at the American Legion, wearing his Fred Flintstone socks for laughs. Jimmie never met a stranger and was an animal lover. He loved his family more than anything and loved life. Survivors include one son, Jimmie Garrett Burleigh, Jr. of Franklin; one daughter, Brandy Lynn Burleigh of Franklin; two granddaughters, Mackenzie Michele Burleigh of Franklin and Autumn Stout of Woodville, MS; two grandsons, Peyton Stout and Christian Burleigh, both of Woodville, MS; his loving and devoted dog, Sammy; as well as many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Toni Garlotte Burleigh; and his parents, C.C. and Velma Edwards Burleigh. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at St. Jules Catholic Church from 8:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM, with the rosary being prayed at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Ibert's Mortuary to help alleviate funeral expenses.
