Chauvin, 61, a native of Franklin and longtime resident of Centerville, who passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at his home in Centerville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Centerville. Fr. Thomas Vu will officiate the services. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 63 in Franklin and the Knights of Columbus Centerville Council #4309. He retired from Columbian Chemicals, North Bend Plant, after many years of dedicated service. His passion in life was his only daughter, Candy, and his only grandchild, Jean'-Paul. Survivors include his daughter, Candace R. Chauvin-Armstrong of New Iberia; one grandson, Jean'-Paul Edler Marceaux of New Iberia; Jean'-Paul's father Floyd Marceaux, Jr., his mother, Ruth Thibodaux-Chauvin of Franklin; one brother, Manly "T-Boy" Chauvin, Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Broussard; three sisters, Sandra Chauvin-Duval and her husband Terry of Parks, Peggy Chauvin-Jones of Lafayette, and Summar Chauvin of Centerville; nieces, Paula Kay Jones-Gentry, Kathy Jones-Menchaca, Nicole Saintes-Patout, and Jamie Jeaux Miller-Gonsoulin; nephews, Benny Saintes, Jr., Kenny Saintes, Jimmy Saintes, Christian Chauvin, Pete Jones, Jr., and Brayden Chauvin; closest cousins, Barry and Myrt Chauvin; as well as other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Manly "Wine" Chauvin, Sr.; two brothers, Gerald "Jerry" Chauvin and David Chauvin; and one sister, Charlene Chauvin. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 1:00 PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Saintes, Floyd Marceaux, Jr., Marcus Chauvin, Jared Suire, Brandan Trahan, and Blaine Lanclos. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Chauvin, Christian Chauvin, and Dean Wright.
