Roland, 79, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Terrebonne General Medical Center. Douglas was born on January 26, 1934 in Stambaugh, Michigan the son of Gordon and Goldie Lemming Roland. Douglas had many joys in his life but the one that made him the happiest was spending time with his family. He enjoyed going fishing and also enjoyed traveling with his wife. He liked to spend time working on the computer and loved to pass the time by going to the casino. He enjoyed watching LSU football and swimming with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Gervais Roland of Morgan City; one son, Chris Roland and wife Connie of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Cade Michael Roland and Morgan Elizabeth Mitchell; two sisters, Evelyn VanDoren of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Dorothy Ryskey of Fayetteville, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents Gordon Roland and Goldie Lemming Roland; one sister, Mary Dain; three brothers, Bill Roland, Ronald Roland and Donald Roland. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until the time of mass on Tuesday at the church. Douglas will be entombed in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux following mass. ===================
