He was born in Ida, was a longtime resident of Morgan City, and a resident of Prairieville for the past 7 years. Bill served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed by Texaco, Inc. for 30 years, and retired as a Division Manager in Morgan City in 1992. Bill proudly served his community in the following capacities: United Way of South Louisiana Board of Directors, American Petroleum Institute Board (Atchafalaya Chapter), Vice Chairman of the Lakewood Hospital Board, Lakewood Foundation Board, and Chairman of the Morgan City Civil Service Board. Bill loved the Lord and his family with all his heart and soul. He was an ordained Deacon and Sunday school teacher and served in those capacities at Immanuel Baptist Church in Morgan City and most recently at Parkview Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. He served on the School Board at Immanuel Christian School and the Pre-School Committee at Parkview Baptist Church. Bill was an avid LSU fan and member of the Gridiron Club and Tiger Athletic Foundation. He loved fishing, traveling, spending time with his family, and had a passion for football. Bill will be greatly missed, but we find comfort knowing that he is in Heaven with the Father. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy D. Wilson; two daughters, Vicki Wilson Briehn, and her husband, Clay, of Prairieville, and Cissy Wilson of Baton Rouge; one sister, Marilyn Wilson Jones, and her husband Billy, of Prairieville; three grandchildren, Lauren Briehn Matte, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Morgan City, and Aaron and Nathan Briehn of Prairieville; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Emma, and Sophie Matte of Morgan City; and three nephews, Larry Jones of Prairieville, Scott Garretson of Baton Rouge, and Troy Garretson of Pride . He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxie Wilson and Opal Cochrell Wilson, and one son, Kenneth Wilson. Visitation will be held in Baton Rouge at Parkview Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 15, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Continuing Wednesday, January 16, at Hargrave Funeral Home, Morgan City, from 11:00 am until time of service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Morgan City cemetery. The East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad will conduct Military grave side honors. Pallbearers will be Larry Jones, Joey Galloway, Todd Hatch, James Kyle, Timothy Kyle, and Sherman Whiting. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Jones, Clay Briehn, Aaron Briehn, Nathan Briehn, Jeff Matte, and Bubba Dykes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his favorite charity, the American Cancer Society . ===================
