Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1302.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Charlie Beryl “Jerry” Autrey, 92, a resident of Morgan City, was called to his heavenly home Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, surrounded by his family. Jerry grew up on a farm in Sabine Parish, attended LSU, returning home to marry his high school sweetheart, Marie Miller Autrey. He worked in the oilfield for almost 50 years, residing in Bayou Vista for 20 years, several towns in Texas and then in Converse until 1996. In every town he lived he was active in the Southern Baptist Church in that community. He was ordained a deacon in First Baptist Church Morgan City in the 1950s. During his time in Converse he retired from the oil industry and had the honor of serving two terms as mayor of the town of Converse. He served on several municipal boards while in Converse. He moved to Moss Bluff in 1996 spending more time gardening, reading, and exercising. He participated in the Calcasieu Parish Senior Olympics for 10 consecutive years always placing in his age division. In 2010 he returned to Morgan City and enjoyed his new home at Maison Jardin. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marie Miller Autrey; his daughter, Linda Sue Thomas; granddaughter, Angelia Marie Gonzalez; great- granddaughter, Layla Kinney; two sons-in-law, Robert Nelms and Clint Kinney; three brothers, Max Autrey, Norris Autrey and George Autrey; one sister, Regina Peterson, and parents, Ina and Byron Autrey. He is survived by his son, Ray Autrey and his wife, Pat; his daughters, Shirley Nelms, Starr Kinney and her fiancé, Jake Perez, and Dawn Streety and her husband, Douglas; his grandchildren, Marion Jett and husband, Jeff, Charlie Autrey and wife, Jacqueline, Kelly Leblanc and husband, Jeff, Brennan Autrey and wife, Sarah, Sam Autrey and wife, Kristen, Alanna Sloane and husband, Joey, Grant Autrey and wife, Shayla, La Sonia Jones and husband, Alex, Jeremy Kinney and fiancé, Lori, Melanie Streety and husband, Will, Jacqueline Lewis and husband, Jeremy, and Douglas Streety and wife, Valerie. He has 20 great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The family also appreciates his special friendship with Judy Gaddy. The family appreciates the care provided by the staff at Maison Jardin and Nursing Care Home Health, as well as Teche Regional Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Visitation will be at Warren Meadows Funeral home Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 8, at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Negreet at 1 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. ===================
