Kenneth Miller officiating. Interment will be private. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until time of services. A native of Franklin and resident of New Iberia, she passed on Friday, February 8, 2013 at her residence. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She is survived by one son, Devon Polite of New Iberia; one daughter, Marlanda Durand of New Iberia; three brothers, Charlie Yarber Jr. (Debra) of Houston Texas, Emmanuel Yarber (Judy) of Grand Marais and Eddie Yarber of Marrero; three sisters, Charlene Colbert (Clyde Sr.) of New Iberia, Phoebe Hurst (Lester Sr.) of Pensacola, Florida and Ethel Carter (Rickey) of Baldwin; four grandchildren, Zhayna Yarber, Mickayla Durand, Tannyra Durand and Hildred Durand III; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Mark Colbert, Donald Colbert, Terron Yarber, Courtney Yarber, Melvin Lancelin, Carey Yarber and Lester Hurst Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Yarber Jr., Emmanuel Yarber, Eddie Yarber, Burt Welch, Clyde Colbert Sr., Lester Hurst Sr., Rickey Carter and Hildred Durand Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Yarber Sr. and Lucy Robertson Yarber; one brother, Andrew Yarber; and one sister, Lucy Lancelin.
