Young, Sr., 87, a resident of Berwick, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Teche Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Curtis was born on May 1, 1925 in Richard, Louisiana the son of Amos Young and Annie Laughlin Young. Curtis loved spending time with his family, but especially his grandchildren. He served his country proudly during WWII by serving in the United States Army. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by seven children, Carol Young of Gainesville, Florida, Kathy Thorton of Berwick, Barbara Young Taylor and companion Johnny Lombas of Bayou Vista, Dorothy Young and fiancé Andre` Miller of Church Point, Denise Young Cantrell and companion Anthony Acosta of Morgan City, Curleen Young and husband Steve Champagne, Sr., of Berwick, Curtis W. Young, Jr. and wife Melissa of Houma; one daughter-in-law Dada Young of Gainesville, Florida; four step daughters, Linda Faye LeBouef and husband Chester of Lake Charles, Cheryl Broussard and husband David of New Orleans, Debbie Clark and husband Steve of Berwick, Christine Kirkland of Franklin; thirty grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Amos and Annie Laughlin Young; wife, Wava Simar Young; one son, Amos Wayne Young; one brother, Edward Young; three sisters, Ethel Young Middlebrooks, Dorothy Young Hartwell Myatt and Mavis Young. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Curtis will be laid to rest in the Berwick Cemetery with military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. ===================
