LeRoy John Brashear, 89, a native of Iowa, LA and a resident of Bayou Vista for 
over 50 years passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 surrounded by his loving 
daughter and granddaughter.

LeRoy was raised on a farm in Iowa with 13 siblings and was a graduate of 
Fenton High School. Following graduation he served our country in the U. S. 
Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. 
After the War he married and attended McNeese University in Lake Charles, where 
he played basketball. Upon graduation he became involved in the oilfield and 
worked there for the next fifty-one years.

He was a member of Doric No. 205 Masonic Lodge in Morgan City, a 32nd Degree 
Mason through the Baton Rouge Consistory and a member of the Habibi Shriners of 
Lake Charles. He is also a Past Patron of Alice Chapter #5, Order of the 
Eastern Star of Morgan City.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Merlin Mayon; three 
grandchildren, Christopher Mayon (Barbora) of Morgan City, Joe Mayon of Lake 
Charles, and Sandra Mayon of Gibson; seven great grandchildren: Christopher 
Mayon, Jr., Meagan Mayon, Andrew Mayon, Mila Mayon; Tucker G. Guidry, Madison 
Gaspar, and Cheri Sons; three brothers Ewell, Waldon (Una) and Nathan (Betty) 
all of Iowa.

He was preceeded in death by his wife of forty-nine years, N. A. "Jeanne" 
Brashear, an infant grandson, his parents, Louis B. Brashear and Sallie LeFranc 
Brashear, eight sisters and two brothers, and his in-laws Frederick and Imogene 
Long of Los Angeles.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, beginning at 6.00 pm 
until 9.00 pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. The East St. Mary Veterans Funeral 
Squad will conduct full military honors at 6 pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. 
Masonic services will begin at 6.30 pm in the Hargrave Funeral Home Chapel. 

Leroy will be laid to rest in Iowa at the LeFranc Family Cemetery, 
with full Navy graveside honors.
