Barbara was born on Bateman Island, the fourth child of Adolph and Ella Verret Landry. She received her education at Berwick Junior High, Sacred Heart Academy and Morgan City High School. She continued her studies at Young Memorial Vocational and Technical school where she graduated in 1974. Entering the work force, she held jobs at the Pediatric Clinic, Berry Brothers and MUDCO. Barbara enjoyed working with her children and their activities. She served as a Boy Scout den mother, a Brownie Scout Leader and Girl Scout leader. She was M.D. Shannon PTA president, the organizer of Shannon's Band Parents Club and its first president. Barbara loved Sacred Heart Church and was active as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, religion class teacher, and a member of the Samaritan's. She sewed many baptismal garments for baptisms at church, and served in many other activities as needed. For 26 years she was among those who helped with the Mass every Thursday at the Morgan City Health Care Center. As a member of their auxiliary, she helped prepare and serve refreshments to the residents each month for their birthday celebration. She deeply regretted that ill health prevented her continued visits to the elderly. Later she also helped with the twice-monthly Mass at Maison Jardin. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea and the Come Lord Jesus Prayer Group. Barbara was also a member of Court Massabille Catholic Daughters of the Americans for 46 years. She was elected Regent twice and also served as Vice Regent, Recording Secretary and Finance Secretary. As the long time chairman of the fruitcake fundraiser she sold and delivered many fruitcakes and became known as "Ms. Fruitcake". She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Coral "Corky" Clark Jr., Curt Clark, and Cecilia Clark Melancon and husband R. Scott Melancon; three grandchildren, Brian Melancon, Stephen Melancon and Carly Clark. She has numerous nieces and nephews as well as wonderful and close friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Coral "CC" Clark, Sr.; her parents, Adolph Landry and Ella Verret Landry; four brothers, Earl Landry, Jerry Landry, Irvin "Red" Landry, and James "Toots" Landry and daughter-in-law Martha Sue Bender Clark. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Ginger Berryhill, Irene Rebardi and Tina Hernandez. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being conducted by the Catholic Daughters at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday at the church.
