PERKINS, HOWARD GLENN 
October 7, 1930 — April 26, 2013

Howard Glenn Perkins, 82, of Picayune, Miss., passed away peacefully at 
Sarasota Memorial Hospital Friday, April 26, 2013.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 
McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune, Miss., with Father Michael Snyder 
officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday at 
McDonald Funeral Home. 

Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Palestine Cemetery.

Glenn was born in Picayune, Miss., on Oct. 7, 1930. He graduated from Picayune 
High School and continued on to receive a bachelor of arts degree from William 
Carey College, a master of arts degree in education from the University of 
Southern Mississippi and completed other advanced studies at Louisiana State 
University.

Glenn shared a devoted and loving marriage with his wife, Betty Ladner Perkins, 
for the past 55 years.

After honorably serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War in the 
1950s, Glenn worked as a football coach at Covington High School, and coach and 
athletic director at Berwick High School before becoming a principal at 
Wyandotte Elementary and then Morgan City High School until 1972 when he became 
a supervisor of instruction in the St. Mary Parish School system. Glenn retired 
in 1989 and moved back to Picayune where he had coffee “in town” almost every 
morning to reminisce alongside his life-long buddies. He spent his well-earned 
retirement by gardening, traveling, playing with grandsons, and watching Saints 
and LSU football.

He was a faithful and active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in 
Picayune and previously of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista.

Glenn is survived by wife Betty; his sons, Glenn Scott and Stanley Dean 
Perkins; grandsons, Glenn Scott Jr., and Kaden Dean; daughters-in-law, Sherri 
and Angela; and his siblings, Clyde Perkins, June Smith and Carolyn Stockstill; 
along with many other family and friends.

Glenn was preceded in death by parents, Cecil Clyde and Allie Perkins; and 
sister, Joyce Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Glenn’s name to St. 
Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Picayune, Miss., St. Bernadette Catholic 
Church in Bayou Vista, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
