A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, April 15, 2013, at 1:00 PM at 
the Church of the Assumption in Franklin for Mr. Darel Joseph Pitre, 77, a 
native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away Tuesday, April 9, 
2013, at 1:45 PM at the Franklin Health Care Center. 

Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. 
Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services.

Mr. Darel was a veteran of the Louisiana National Guard. 
He retired in the early 80's from Sterling Sugars, where he was employed as 
supply clerk. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption, where he also 
sang in the choir, and was also a member of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel in 
Franklin.

Survivors include his two sisters, Dianne Pitre Governale of Patterson and 
Norma Pitre Clements of Centerville; four nephews, Dwayne Clements of Atlanta, 
GA, Chad Governale of Maurice, James Governale of Stephensville, and Scott 
Governale of Patterson; four nieces, Dana C. Rivere of Centerville, Deborah C. 
Zimmer of Lafayette, Maria "Fran" Francesca G. Lantz of Patterson, and Darla C. 
Ackman of Centerville; as well as numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, great 
grandnieces, and great grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Pitre and Ethel Hebert Pitre; 
and two brothers-in-law, Alton Clements and Frankie Governale.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at the Church of the 
Assumption from 11:00 AM until time of Mass at 1:00 PM, with the rosary being 
prayed at 11:30 AM.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dwayne Clements, Chad Governale, James 
Governale, Lynn Veron, Amar Lancon, and Mike Bodin. Honorary pallbearer will be 
Scott Governale.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc., 1007 Main Street, 
Franklin, LA
