Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1304.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, April 15, 2013, at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin for Mr. Darel Joseph Pitre, 77, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 1:45 PM at the Franklin Health Care Center. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services. Mr. Darel was a veteran of the Louisiana National Guard. He retired in the early 80's from Sterling Sugars, where he was employed as supply clerk. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption, where he also sang in the choir, and was also a member of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel in Franklin. Survivors include his two sisters, Dianne Pitre Governale of Patterson and Norma Pitre Clements of Centerville; four nephews, Dwayne Clements of Atlanta, GA, Chad Governale of Maurice, James Governale of Stephensville, and Scott Governale of Patterson; four nieces, Dana C. Rivere of Centerville, Deborah C. Zimmer of Lafayette, Maria "Fran" Francesca G. Lantz of Patterson, and Darla C. Ackman of Centerville; as well as numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, and great grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Pitre and Ethel Hebert Pitre; and two brothers-in-law, Alton Clements and Frankie Governale. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at the Church of the Assumption from 11:00 AM until time of Mass at 1:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 11:30 AM. Serving as pallbearers will be Dwayne Clements, Chad Governale, James Governale, Lynn Veron, Amar Lancon, and Mike Bodin. Honorary pallbearer will be Scott Governale.
