Camp went home to be with the Lord today, Friday, May 10, 2013, at the home of his daughter, Lisa, in Patterson. Visitation will be held at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson Tuesday, May 14, beginning at 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ibert's Memorial Park Cemetery. J.D. was known as Mr. J., Mr. C.J., Uncle J.D., and to those who loved and knew him best, simply Pop. He was born on March 29, 1935, in Hosston, one of six children of Margurette and Ennis Camp. In 1954 J.D. married Carolyn Pittman. They had three children: Rene'e, Danny and Lisa. In 1964 J.D. moved his family from Shreveport to Patterson and went to work for Halliburton. He worked many years offshore but after suffering a back injury, took an early retirement. Needing to provide for his family, J.D. and Carolyn started their own business in 1975 called C & J Electronics, a citizens band radio business. He and his family enjoyed this time in their lives. The business introduced them to new people and gave them opportunities to visit numerous small towns in many different states. They took the CB business as far as it could go until the radio craze started to fade. Again, J.D., knowing he had to start a new chapter in his life and having always wanted to have some type of big truck, realized his dream and bought himself a wrecker truck, giving his new business the name C & J Wrecker Service in 1982. As the wrecker business grew, his son Danny joined him and they worked together side by side. Eventually, both his daughter Rene'e and grandson Eddy worked in the business, which completed the dream J.D. had started. J.D. was preceded in death by Carolyn Camp, his wife of 33 years; his daughter, Rene'e White; his mother and father, Margurette and Ennis; two brothers, Charles Richard and one who died an infant; and two sisters, Tesse and June. J.D. is survived by his son, Danny Camp of Patterson; daughter, Lisa Phillips and her husband, Doug, of Patterson; three grandchildren, Eddy White and his wife, Darla, of Bayou Vista, Corey Lodrigue of Patterson, and Cray Phillips of Patterson; two great-grandchildren, Gabe White of Bayou Vista and Madison Lodrigue of Patterson: his son-in-law Bill White of Bayou Vista: and one brother, John Michael Camp and his wife, Wanda, of Oil City. J.D. is also survived by his beloved Yorkie, Sissy Girl. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary Inc., 1111 Lia St., Patterson, 985-395-7873. ===================
