She was born in Berwick, Louisiana on February 19, 1930 and afterward was baptized into the St. Stephens Catholic Church in Berwick. She completed her journey on this earth on Wednesday, May 29 at 7:22 a.m. 2013 at the age of 83. Ursel lived in Berwick and attended schools there. She attended Berwick High School until the 12th grade when she dropped out to help support her family by working long hours in the Crab factory. She worked at several different jobs in the Berwick, Morgan City area supporting her 2 daughters and 1 son. She worked at Franklins on Front Street, Diana Dress Shop; Catos where she became assistant manager for a time, and also for pharmacist, Sammy and Cathy Russo as a nanny to their children. Ursel loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, watching TV, walking, and fellowshipping with her friends in the Roadrunners and Golden Angels of the First Baptist Church. Ursel became a member of the First Baptist Church in 1972 when it was still on Federal Avenue in Morgan City where she was active until her illness overcame her. Ursel will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by 2 daughters, Jackie Babin and husband Donovan of Morgan City; Doris Blanchard and husband Julius of Amelia and one son Wayne Cooley and wife Mary of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by Grandchildren Joshua Harding and wife Nicole of Addis, Louisiana; Marisa Nolan and husband Jason of Lancaster, California; Tia Morris of Brooklyn, Mississippi and Robert Palmer and wife Stacey also of Brooklyn, Mississippi. Also 7 great grandchildren, Elijah and Connor Nolan; Grayson Harding; Blaire and Blane Palmer; Camryn and Jaxon Morris. Ursel will be missed by her nurse caretaker Nicole Carter who devotedly and tenderly took care of her for the last years of her illness. The family would like to express thanks for the love and attention given to Ursel by Dr. Natalie Dishman, her attending physician, by those at Amedisys Home Healthcare in Houma, Teche Regional, 6th Floor Staff, and Bayou Health Elderly and Disabled Care. Ursel was preceded in death by her parents, August and Eva Hebert Plessala; also her 4 sisters, Marie Melancon, Ione Evans, Joyce Sowell and Isabel Fage. A gathering of family and friends will be on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Hargrave Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 8am until time of services at Hargrave Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday June 1, 2013 at Hargrave Funeral Home. Serving as Pallbearers will be Joshua Harding, Jason Nolan, Elijah Nolan, Melvin Brown, Charles Taylor, Darrell O'Neal, and Papouse Fage. A graveside service will be held at the Morgan City Cemetery following the funeral. After the graveside services a celebration of life and memories will be held at the Hargrave Funeral Home 1031 Victor II Blvd. in Morgan City. ===================
