Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1305.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette for Mr. Emile Joseph "E. J." Doucet, 91, a St. Mary Parish native and a longtime resident of Jeanerette, who passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 4:00 PM at Iberia Extended Care Hospital in New Iberia. Father Jody Simoneaux will officiate the services. Mr. Doucet was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II in the Battle of Normandy and the Battle of Omaha Beach. He was a member of the VFW Post 4201 in Franklin. E. J. loved music. He played the accordian in the Golden Age Band, playing at numerous area nursing homes. Most recently he sat in with a local band at Landry's Seafood while celebrating his 91st birthday. Survivors include three children, Patricia D. Fulton of Arkansas, Edwin J. "Boo Boo" Doucet and his wife Tammy of New Iberia, and Judy D. Trahan and her husband Todd of Jeanerette; one sister, Betty May and her husband Ivy of Franklin; six grandchildren, Brandi Fulton Ringler, Jennifer Doucet Folse, Alyse Doucet, Madeline Doucet, Joshua Trahan, and Jacob Trahan; five great grandchildren, Nicholas Ringler, Gracie Ringler, Garrett Folse, Carson Folse, and Mallorie Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Philomine Pillaro Doucet; his former second wife, Julie Derouen Doucet; his parents, Eloie Doucet, Sr. and Effie Parrah Doucet; two brothers, Eloie "Boobie" Doucet, Jr. and Edwin Doucet; and five sisters, Cecile D. Freeman, Elnora D. Bernard, Gloria D. Frederick, Hazel D. Theriot, and Audrey D. Caro. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, May 20, at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visiting will resume Tuesday morning at Ibert's at 8:00 AM until time of dismissal at 10:30 AM. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the family and friends. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to AAA Home Health, Dr. Carl Ditch, Dr. Stephen Boudreaux, and Smith & Honey Adult Day Care, where he was affectionately known as "Deuce."
