Ira was born on May 1, 1929 in Morgan City the son of Eugene Grow and Levie Concienne Grow. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great- grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed and loved always. Ira’s love for the water began working on a tugboat at the age of 14. He then became a U.S. Navy seaman and traveled the world to serve his country. His work experience involved being a boat captain, then as a crane operator / tool pusher for Kerr-McGee / Transworld Drilling in the oilfield industry locally and abroad for over 35 years. After retirement, his later years brought him to his camps in the Atchafalaya Basin where he spent many days with his family and friends fishing, crabbing, and enjoying the outdoors. The vast knowledge he learned over the years has always been used to help family, friends, and others in need. Anytime anyone needed help or something fixed, they could always depend on Ira. He is survived by his wife, Cecile Lombas Grow of Morgan City; one daughter, Cheryl Grow Carpenter of New Orleans; two sons, Ira J. Grow, Jr. of Morgan City; and Terry W. Grow, Sr. and wife Theresa Jones Grow of Bayou Vista. Ira has 8 grandchildren; Laura, Amanda, Liberty, Ira, Amy, Terry, Colt, Asa and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Vada Belle Breaux and Golden Mickler. Many nieces and nephews also survive him. Preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Levie Concienne Grow; three brothers, Edison, Sr., Wilbur, and Gordon; a son, Gary Dean Grow; grandson, Travis Wayne Grow; and best friend, Trouble Dog. In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers and blessings. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of donor's choice in Ira's name. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home with a memorial service beginning at 8:00 p.m. ===================
