KAUFMAN, LILLIE DIFFEE 
March 1, 1924 - May 27, 2013

Funeral services and 

burial will be held Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Beau Pré Cemetery in 
Jeanerette 

for Lillie Ruth Diffee Kaufman, 89, a native of Attalla, Alabama and a longtime 
resident of Franklin, who passed away peacefully with her family at her side. 
Rev. Charles Marceaux and Rev. Sue Pugh will officiate the services.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at Beau Pré Cemetery from 
10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.

Mrs. Lillie's passion in life was reading. Next to her family, one of the 
greatest blessings in her life that brought such joy to her was working at the 
Alex P. Allain Memorial (Franklin) Branch Library, in which she dedicated 20 
years of faithful service. At the time of her retirement, she was the Front 
Desk Circulation Manager. She also enjoyed decorating, sewing, gardening, and 
arranging flowers.

Survivors include one son, Guy C. Kaufman, Jr. and his wife Paulette of 
Lafayette; one daughter, Rebecca Kaufman Ashley and her husband Enos of 
Franklin; five grandchildren, Dwight Guy Kaufman of Lafayette, Stephanie 
Kaufman Mahtook and her husband Greg of Lafayette, Roger Lyle Ashley of 
Franklin, Ryan Charles Ashley and his wife Sarah of Greenville, MS, and Allison 
Ashley Burgess and her husband Bruce of Charenton; seven great grandchildren, 
Anna-Corinne Mahtook, Gregory Charles Mahtook, and Kenneth Guy Kaufman, all of 
Lafayette, Hannah Grace Ashley and Noah Charles Ashley of Greenville, MS, and 
Ava Claire Burgess and Carter Thomas Burgess of Charenton; as well as nieces 
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Charles Kaufman, Sr.; an infant 
twin son; her parents, Newton Lyle Diffee and Annie Pitts Diffee; one brother, 
Donald Diffee; and one sister, Jo Diffee Snyder.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dwight C. Kaufman, Jr., Roger Ashley, Ryan 
Ashley, Greg Mahtook, Bruce Burgess, and Dennis Diffee. Honorary pallbearers 
will be Enos Ashley, Thomas "Butch" Diffee, and Jerry Diffee.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the First United 
Methodist Church, as well as her caregivers, Nora Burgess, Dionne Johnson, and 
Samantha Johnson.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Lillie's memory 
to the St. Mary Parish Library, Alex P. Allain (Franklin) Branch, 206 Iberia 
St., Franklin, LA 70538 or West End (Baldwin) Branch, PO Box 309, Baldwin, LA
