MITCHELL, ALFRED 

Alfred Mitchell, 60, a resident and native of St. Joseph, died Saturday, April 
27, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia following a short 
illness.

He is survived by his wife, June Washington Mitchell of St. Joseph; mother-in-
law, Albertine Washington of St. Joseph; one son, Gean (Monica) Rayfield Wells 
Jr. of St. Joseph; five grandchildren, Lillian, Brittany, Lavonta, Gentrell and 
Shantrell; five brothers, Lionel (Renea) Mitchell Jr., Clyde (Pamela) Mitchell 
Sr., Gerald (Daisy) Mitchell, all of Franklin, Eric (Hilda) Mitchell of Baldwin 
and Donald (Melissa) of Renton, Washington; seven sisters, Audrey Washington of 
Charenton, Gloris (Leonard) Pigg, Cynthia (Charles) Collins, Geraldine (George) 
Peters and Jacqueline Mitchell, all of Franklin, Gertrude Bourgeois of 
Patterson and Mary (Bertis) Verrett of Lafayette; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Guy; 
brothers-in-law, James (Verna) Washington Jr., Rogers (Catherine) Washington 
and Clyde (Rosie) Washington.

Visitations will be observed Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Otis 
Mortuary Chapel.

Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at the mortuary, with the Rev. 
Ulysses Mitchell Jr. officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Irish Bend Cemetery in St. Joseph.
