Reed, a resident of Bayou Lourse and native of Mamou, passed away May 11, 2013 in Houma at the age of 73. James was a charismatic man. Always ready to have a good time, there was never a dull moment when he was around. He was always sure to make you laugh. James believed in living life to the fullest. Throughout his life, he was a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas, pilot, merchant marine, manager of an oilfield company, and heavy equipment operator just to name a few. His passion was for Cajun living. Every evening was spent cooking and relaxing in his outdoor kitchen. He loved to cook, sing, play guitar, dance, hunt and fish. His specialty was making sausage and tasso seasoned with none other than his homemade seasoning and smoking it in his smokehouse. Cool evenings sitting by the fire and enjoying the company of family and friends was a favorite pastime. James was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all that knew him. James is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandra G Reed, his son Chad Reed and his wife Rachel. James is also survived by his two sisters Wedna Leger, and Elaine Giglio. James is preceded in death by his parents Cleven Reed and Essie Fontenot Reed. ===================
