Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1305.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Carroll James Thorguson, 67, a native and lifelong resident of Berwick, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette surrounded by his family. Carroll was a 1963 graduate of Berwick High School and a 1967 graduate of Nicholls State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After college, Carroll joined the family's marine construction business for 9 years before opening his own real estate business, which became Thorguson Realty, Inc. In 1972, Carroll was elected to the St. Mary Parish School Board, a position he held until 1986. He was the Board's president from 1984-1986 and served two terms prior to that as the Board's vice-president. In 1994, Carroll was appointed to serve on an interim basis as a councilman for the Town of Berwick. For 27 years, Carroll was a member of the Board of Directors of Patterson State Bank. Carroll was longtime member of the Morgan City Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member and past president of the St. Mary Board of Realtors, as well as a member of both the Louisiana Realtor's Association and the National Association of Realtors. For many years Carroll was very active in Berwick youth baseball. He served as both a coach and sponsor of Dixie Youth Baseball and helped to organize and raise funds for the construction of the baseball field at Berwick High School. He was also an avid supporter of LSU athletics. His favorite pastime was visiting with friends on his daily rides around the Town of Berwick. Carroll is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Genevieve Manfre Thorguson of Berwick; one daughter, Karen Trahan and her husband, Mitch of Youngsville; two sons, David Thorguson and his wife, Kimberly of Berwick, and Brian Thorguson and his wife, Amy of Berwick; seven grandsons, Zachery Paul Trahan, Brett Patrick Trahan, Gunnar Douglas Thorguson, Owen Alexander Thorguson, Jackson Griffin Thorguson, Henry Charles Thorguson, and Ian Michael Thorguson; two brothers, Gus Thorguson and Steve Thorguson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Caesar and Camille Thorguson. The family requests that visitation be observed Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will resume Monday, May 6, 2013 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick from 9 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with Monsignor Douglas Courville officiating. Interment will follow in the Berwick Mausoleum. ===================
