Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1306.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services were held Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 10:00 AM at Teche Baptist Church in Verdunville for Mr. Donald "Duck" Joseph Burns, Sr., 78, a native of Bayou Chene and a resident of Verdunville for the past 50 years, who passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, at the Franklin Health Care Center. Burial will follow in the Teche Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Joe Thibeau will officiate the services. Mr. Donald was a loving husband and father and was an avid fisherman and crawfisherman. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Patterson, where he also served as a Deacon. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Anna Rose Mayea Burns; three children, Donald Burns, Jr., Cathy B. Holeman and her husband Tim, and Sandy B. LeJeune and her husband Tony; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Nicholas "Dewey" Burns and Louisiana Mae Voisin Burns; four sisters, Vivian Carter, Birdie Sauce, Kate Marcotte, and Sadie Aucoin; and one brother, Ernest Burns. A gathering of family and friends was held Saturday at Teche Baptist Church from 8:00 AM until time of service.
