Guidry, Sr., 78, a native of Iberville Parish and a resident of Patterson, who passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 8:37 AM at the Patterson Health Care Center. Burial will follow in the Berwick Cemetery Mausoleum. Heart of Hospice Chaplain Bryan Johnson will officiate the services. Capt. West provided for his family as a Boat Captain working in the oilfield industry. Decades later he retired to a land job, remaining in oilfield transportation working as a truck driver for several years. He also served in the military. His hard-working legacy shall continue through his siblings, children, and other successors. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Lombas Guidry of Patterson; his son, Weston I. Guidry, Jr. and his wife Mary Fontenot of Berwick; his daughter, Melinda Guidry Fields and her husband Glenn of Patterson; three stepchildren, Anthony Businelle and his wife Danielle, Stephanie Businelle, and Brian Businelle; five siblings, Delores Verret, Mary Fusilier, Hazel Guidry, Mildred Bernadou, and Floyd Guidry; eight grandchildren, Andrew Goldman, Weston I. Guidry, III, Joanna Guidry, Holly Guidry, Sasha Guidry Mayon, Tiffany Guidry, Brandon Guidry, and Lori Fields; as well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Darrin Guidry; his parents, Elias Guidry and Margaret Melvina Polumbo Guidry; five brothers, Evince, Harris, Wilfred, Alvin, and Elias Jr.; and two sisters, Elnora and Louise. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 3, at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson from 8:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Patterson Health Care Center and Heart of Hospice for the compassionate and loving care given to Captain West over the past several years.
