Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1306.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Rudolph "Rudy" Luke Mire, 81, a native of Bayou Chene and a resident of Morgan City peacefully passed away, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Teche Regional Medical Center. Rudolph leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Keith Mire of Berwick; his step daughter, Melba Robin and her husband, Joseph, of Morgan City; his step son, Kenneth Benoit of Morgan City; two grandchildren, Kayla Rose Mire and Brodi Patrick Mire both of Berwick; two sisters, Mary Lou Mire of Addis and Edna Drummond of St. Martinville; five step grandchildren, Scott and Kevin Rodriguez of Morgan City, Kenneth Lee Benoit of Pierre Part, Nicole Benoit of Pierre Part, and Celeste Portier of Bayou L'ourse; two great grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren; and three step great great granddaughters. He joins in heaven, his father, Joseph Sylvester Mire; his mother, Jenny Seneca Mire; five sisters, Rilma Lange, Rachel Diamond, Victoria Pierce, Mandy Gilchrist, and Mae Hawks; and four brothers, Fernest Joseph Mire, Hebert Mire, Cluster Mire, and Mitchell Mire Rudolph joined the Armed Forces at a very young age in 1952 and proudly served during the Korean War. As soon as he returned from serving his country, Rudolph began working on tug boats in the area, eventually working his way up to captain of his own vessel. After many, many years of dedicated service piloting vessels in waterways, Rudolph retired with his close 'fury companion' Zoie. While retired, Rudolph dedicated his time to gardening, visiting with friends and neighbor over coffee, and keeping his family on their toes. Those who knew him, knew 'Rudy was Rudy' a unique individual. A time of remembrance and visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 10am to 1pm at Hargrave Funeral Home with funeral services following visitation. Graveside services will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery ===================
