Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1306.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 12:00 PM, at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin for Michael Scelfo, 62, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at his home in Franklin. Inurnment will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery. Father Ruben Primor will officiate the services. Michael was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Vietnam War on the USS White Plains as a Seaman E-3 Quarter Master. He was a boat captain for over thirty years, loved being on the water, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Michael is survived by his mother, Gladys Lovell Scelfo of Franklin; four sisters, Darlene Scelfo of Franklin, Monica Scelfo Carline and her husband Carl, Jr. of Baldwin, Carmelita Mire and her husband Mike of Franklin, and Rose Mary "Penny" Thibodaux of Franklin; two nieces, Sara J. Gates and her husband David Lorah of New Jersey and Lacy C. Koob and her husband Jonathan of Lafayette; and two nephews, Jeffrey Gates and his wife Heather of New Iberia and Scott Mire and his wife Nicole of Franklin; one grandniece, Amber Gates; one grandnephew, Logan Mire; and devoted family friends, Mary Ann Phillips and Tammy Hanson and her grandchildren, Shila, Au'na, Harlem. He was preceded in death by his father, Camille Scelfo; and one sister, Jane S. Gates. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin from 9:00 AM until Mass time at 12:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 10:30 AM.
