Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1307.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Ibert's Mortuary at 1:00 PM for Louise Sikes Judice Landry Charpentier, 93, a native of West Monroe and longtime resident of Franklin, who passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Franklin Healthcare Center. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services. Louise was born the fourth of 11 children to a poor logging family in northeast Louisiana. She had to quit school at the age of 9 to help care for her younger brothers and sisters during the Great Depression. At 17 years old she married Elie and began her family life. She later went on to earn her GED at the age of 35. Following the early death of her husband, she began LPN training at the age of 37. Taking on a demanding home, school, and work schedule, she received her LPN certificate and began working as an LPN. She went on to remarry two more times, with both husbands dying at an early age. At the age of 65, she completed her education, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She also accomplished making her first solo flight as a pilot that same year. In 1992 she was honored as the National Homebound Nurse of the Year and was also was the recipient of the Older Worker of the Year, presented by the St. Mary Council on Aging. Survivors include two sons, Lee Roy Judice and his wife Beatrice, and Charles E. Judice and his wife Shirley, all of Centerville; her brother, Truman Sikes of West Virginia; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and a very special and devoted friend, Dorothy Falterman. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Elie Anthony Judice; 2nd husband, Rene Landry; 3rd husband, Clifford Charpentier; one son, Dr. Donald Joseph Judice; her parents, Edward and Alice Knight Sikes; five brothers, Willie, Ervin, Richard, Buddy and Phillip Sikes; and three sisters, Katherine, Sybil and Velma Sikes. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Ibert's Mortuary from 10:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Judice, Matthew Judice, Wilson Judice, Robert Judice, Stephen Stirling, and Taylor Stirling. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Louise to Heart of Hospice, 14777 Frontage Road, Franklin, LA., 70538.
