Inurnment will follow at St. John Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. until service time. The recitation of the rosary will be at 1:30 p.m. A native of Morgan City and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Goulas passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013, at 8:30 p.m. at Iberia Medical Center, with his family by his side. Mr. Goulas proudly served his country for 39 years as Command Sergeant Major for the 2nd Battalion, 156 Infantry Division. His subordinates gave him the nickname “Coach” as he was their mentor and person they aspired to be. He was dedicated to his Catholic faith and was a family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and watching television, especially his soap operas. His generosity and compassion were unequaled. Offering refuge to a cross- country hitchhiking couple, fostering a young homeless woman, and taking care of his mother for 10 years, being at her bedside for her every need for the last 5 years, are just a small example of the love he had in his heart for his fellow man. Mr. Goulas always found the good in people, no matter the situation. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Kevin “Kip” Goulas and wife Debbie of Jeanerette; daughters, Dianne Goulas Theriot and husband Gary of Rockport, Texas, Karen Goulas Hebert of Lafayette, Carolyn Goulas of Jeanerette, and Theresa Goulas Olander and husband Raymond of Jeanerette; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Goulas Fredrick of Morgan City; a brother, David Goulas of Berwick; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Mire Goulas; parents, Charles Goulas Sr. and Lizetta Gougenheim Goulas; a daughter, Debra Goulas Landry; a grandson, Micah M. Goulas; a great-grandson, Dax M. Landry; and brothers, Charles Goulas Jr. and Donald Goulas. The family would like to thank Regional Home Health, the Iberia Medical Center 4th floor Nurses and Staff, and Hospice Compassus for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Mr. Goulas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. David Funeral Home of Jeanerette, 400 Provost St., 337-276-5151, is in charge of arrangements. ===================
