Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1307.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Violet Markunas, a native of Westville, Illinois and long-time resident of Bayou Vista, passed away July 24, 2013 in Morgan City at the age of 90. Violet was known for her radiance, adventurous spirit, and outgoing personality. Vi was a friend to all and never at a loss for words. She appreciated fashion and treasured memories of her travels across the country. Vi recently retired from Bayou Bouef Electric after 30 years of faithful service. She was Catholic by faith and a member of the Shell Oil Retiree's Club. Violet leaves behind to cherish her memories two daughters, Donna Markunas Bounds and Karen Markunas Lopez and husband Rafael, and her son-in-law Wayne Dubuc. Violet's five grandchildren, Brian Dubuc and wife Rene Crowe Dubuc, Brent Dubuc and wife Joni, Sabrina Bounds, David Duhon and wife Stephanie Hebert Duhon, and Renee Duhon Landry and husband Martin Landry, inherit her spirit. Granny's five great grandchildren are Collin, Alivia, and Bryleigh Dubuc, Kaitlyn and Addison Duhon, "all in their places with sunshiny faces". Violet was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Peter Markunas, parents Mary and Joseph Mazeikas of Lithuania, daughter Marsha Markunas Dubuc, sister Margaret Mazeikas Levickey, and brothers Charles and Alex Mazeikas. Private Graveside services will be held at a later date. ===================
