Funeral services for Melvina B. Williams, 94, who departed this life Saturday, 
July 20, 2013, at her residence in Youngsville, will be held at 10 a.m. 
Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Trinity C.M.E. Church, 604 Lee Ave., Lafayette.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Morgan City. 
The Rev. Maggie Banks, pastor of Trinity C.M.E. Church, will conduct the 
services.

A native of Morgan City, Mrs. Williams was a resident of Youngsville, and is 
survived by her son, Marvin (Martha) J. Young Sr. of Morgan City; and two 
daughters, Linda F. Granger of Youngsville and Ina O’Brien of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph C. Young Sr.; her second 
husband, Willie Williams Jr.; her parents, David Bates Sr. and Laura C. Bates; 
her sons, Christopher Young and Joseph C. Young Sr.; her daughter, Janis May; 
and her brothers, David Bates Jr. and Joseph Bates.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at 
Trinity C.M.E. Church in Lafayette.
